Winter’s Cry
A wild night I was lucky to witness on my Greenland winter visit to Uummannaq. Fortunately I was there during a solar storm, which caused Northern Lights to shine all around the sky, even to the north – quite a rare occurrence in Uummannaq, whose 70-degree latitude is too high up to be in the center of the party, figuratively speaking.
I shot the lights for several hours, above icebergs embedded in the sea ice. It was pretty mind boggling to be literally standing on the sea, shooting Aurora in the High Arctic.
